The movement of water and the shapes of the locks and levees around Florida's Lake Okeechobee inspired my FLORIDA LEVEE paintings. These small abstractions in paint, ink and oil pastel on heavy art paper capture my observations and experiences at the waterside. I paint them on site and trust the suggestiveness of the interlocked geometric forms, the flow of water and the character of my materials to unlock deeper thematic content.
