The movement of water and the forms of the locks and levees around Florida's Lake Okeechobee inspired my LEVEE FORMS paintings. These small abstractions in paint, ink and oil pastel on paper capture my observations and experiences at the waterside. I paint them intuitively, trusting the suggestiveness of interlocked geometric forms and the character of my materials to unlock deeper thematic content.
Strong color and form contrasts in the LEVEE FORMS paintings makes one image suitable as a focus point in an intimate room, or several arranged together can be a dominant color element in a large room.
